Your Maker Profile is where you get to present your brand, business, and what makes you special—helping drive brand awareness and sales. Your Maker Profile is your landing page where your showcase your imagery in Banner Images, tell your story in your Maker Description, introduce yourself personally with your Maker Profile image, and share other important information about you and your business. If the Maker Portal seems daunting at first, this guide should help make it a breeze, letting you create a fantastic Maker Profile that will showcase your brand and products to our growing audience.
Maker Business/Display Name
We recommend using your business name here rather than your personal name. We also usually recommend dropping any "Inc," "LLC," etc. This is for display purposes only, to connect with your buyers.
If you have non-English characters in your name (e.g. Rosé, 桜, etc), you should have no problems. But in such a case, please see our guide for improving search results for your products.
We do have some makers that don't have the ability to list their phone number, but if you can please list it! While most questions will likely come through Doorstep Market, you may receive a phone call regarding one of your products and not listing your phone number could mean a lost sale!

Your Maker Profile URL Extension
We have two recommendations: All lower case and replace spaces with dashes. So Ironwood Farm would become ironwood-farm. This may seem really low on your priority list, but it's actually really important for your SEO. Once you set this, you probably won't want to change it.
Maker Two-Line Tagline
This is a very short description of your business written to catch a browser’s eye. The tagline cannot exceed 85 characters, including spaces. A good example might be: "Locally sourced sweets and treats handmade with love in the Hudson Valley."
First & Last Name
Buyers want to connect to your business, to you as a Maker.
To select more than one of these, if they apply, hold down Ctrl/Cmd and click. We love to promote these types of businesses!
A link to your website! Super basic. A caveat: The URL must be in the format example.com or www.example.com. If you include https://, the link will not work. (This varies from social links below!)
Tell shoppers about yourself! Our shoppers want to learn more about you and your brand! It includes a minimum of 150 words that tell a richer, more detailed story about your business—how it started and why, your background and ethics, or why it’s located in or relates to its specific region.
While you can write as much as you want here, remember, shoppers can be impatient. 200 to 300 words is about as much as you want to write. It’s smart to include the most compelling aspects of your business, brand, methods and products near the beginning of your profile.
Make sure there is some spacing between paragraphs or sections.
Doorstep Market shoppers are skipping generic, national brands in order to connect with local Makers, Growers and Artisans like you! Regionality is important to Doorstep Market shoppers! Let them know how you and your business are inspired by where you live and work.
Include details that highlight the quality of your ingredients, materials, sourcing, or any unusual aspects of your craft.

Including these not only gives your buyers another way to contact you and follow you, it's also great for your SEO!
